What is an F-1 student visa?
The F-1 is an immigrant visa that allows foreign students to pursue full-time academic coursework at U.S. SEVP-certified institutions (universities/colleges, language schools, and qualified K-12). With F-1, you can study, work on campus (regulated), and may be eligible for practical training such as OPT; qualifying dependents may accompany you on F-2.

- Academic History – High school graduation (or equivalent) for undergraduate; eligible previous study for graduate studies.
- Acceptance Letter – Admission to a SEVP-certified institution and receiving your Form I-20.
- Financial Evidence – Document funds to pay for the first year's tuition and living expenses (and a valid plan beyond).
- Home-Country Ties & Intent – Establish nonimmigrant intent according to U.S. law.
- SEVIS Fee – Pay the I-901 SEVIS fee prior to your interview.
